Stick around
and I'll show you how to forever erase these delusional
thoughts from your fevered brain.
Before we
start, I assure you that you won't have to practice black
magic, island voo doo, or in any other way stain your
immortal soul to become a writer whose writings people
will read.
Just so we're clear,
and although I would
like to turn you into a best selling author, let's just
shoot for you gaining writing skills enough to promote
your online business.
If this
limitation
is acceptable, keep reading...

First, let's
prove, beyond any shadow of doubt, that you can already
write good enough for Internet readers. Can you talk? You
know, say words that people who hear them can understand
the meaning of. Write those same words down on a paper,
into a word, text processor of some kind.
If people
understand your spoken words, they'll understand them
written. Which makes you a writer. Ah, "but what about
spelling, grammar like paragraphs, participles, dangling
and otherwise, you ask?"
You're over
thinking the process. Don't worry about this kind of
stuff. Most of the people who'll read the type of
information you'll put out for selling, don't care.
They're only interested in how you can help them.
Besides,
most writing software comes with a decent spell checker.
Write short sentences. Short paragraphs of three to four
sentences. Try not to use many adjectives. Adjectives are
boring and people quit reading. (Adjectives: words that
describe or modify another person or thing in a sentence.)
You don't
even have to write to sell. Just tell people what you have
to offer and what they'll get from using it. You know, how
their life will be better. Simple words, simple thoughts.
It works for me. It'll work for you, too.
Try it. Keep
trying it. Each time you do it, the more confident you'll
get and the better you'll be.
Proof
that you're already a writer, Number 2:
Ever go
grocery shopping with a list of food items to buy? Ever
make a list of what you wanted to get done the next day?
Did you make Santa a list when you were a kid?
If you can
write a list to Santa, or a 'to-do' list, you can write
good enough to promote your business on the Internet.
Let me show
you an example.
You become
an affiliate of some type of relationship self-help
product. You want to drive traffic and back-links to your
affiliate page without spending money. How? With article
marketing. You simply use your list writing skills to
write articles promoting your affiliate business links.
List
articles tend to pack a lot of information into a short
space. They're a fast read. People like reading list type
articles. Here's all you need:
-
A snappy
title: "Three Hot Ways To Spice Up Your Sex Life"
-
A three
sentence introduction paragraph telling the reader what
you'll tell them in your list
-
A short
paragraph or two for each list item
-
A three
sentence closing paragraph telling your reader what you
just told them
-
A resource
box offering your reader something special if they'll
visit your link...
Proof
that you're already a writer, Number 3:
Have you
told someone how to destroy a wasp nest without getting
stung? Or, how to potty train a puppy? In other words,
have how to do something, or given anyone directions? If
you have, then you can write a 'how-to' article.
You can
write 'How-To' articles using the above list article
writing formula. Instead of a series of lists, you
describe a series of steps. Remember, you already know how
to give directions, just write it down.
Article
Submission:
Generally,
most online article submission sites want the minimum of
400 words per article. Personally, I like to use articles
close to the minimum because it's tiresome reading online.
Again, use
simple words. Short sentences. Short paragraphs. And, save
the adjectives for the poets.
Two
strategies for publishing your articles:
-
Submit them
to websites, ezines and blogs that relate to the subject
of your article. Contact the owner, or publisher directly
and establish how your article can help him.
-
Submit them
to article directories. Follow their publishing rules.
Here's four to try:
Back
links:
Most article
submission sites won't allow back links in in the body of
articles. OK then, include them in your resource box. I
send over half of my links to the index page of the
website I'm promoting. The remaining links are sent to
pages specifically related to the article's subject.
Plus, track
the links and the traffic from the different sites you
submit to.
Resource
Box:
Your
resource box is for presenting your call to action. It's
also a time for you leave them wanting more of you. If
brevity was ever called for, this is the place for it.
Play on the readers emotions to get them to click on your
links. Greed is especially effective.
Put these facets
together and you've got yourself a well-oiled article
production factory. Good writing and good publishing.
